Ireland Cricket has been named a 15 Member squad for the upcoming ICC world cup Qualifier which will be schedule to played in Zimbabwe on Next Month of March. William Porterfield will be leading the irish side along with him plenty of experience players in the line up.
“Experience is such a vital commodity, especially in high pressure situations which this tournament will certainly have. What was refreshing in the Dubai tournament was the superb work ethic that I witnessed from everyone, and the willingness of all the players to learn and adapt to different ideas. While it’s certainly an experienced line-up, there is a nice balance of younger players in there too,” said the coach.
“It’s going to be a really hard-fought tournament with nearly all the sides in with a genuine chance of qualification. There are certainly no ‘gimmes’ in the competition. It’s a pity there are only two places up for grabs,” said skipper Porterfield.
“We’ve got a good record against the Windies, beating them in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, so we’ll take confidence from that. The Netherlands have got some big players back in recent times, so they’ll be tough, while PNG are improving all the time. We will be at full strength for the competition, so hopefully if we play to our strengths we’ll make it through to the United Kingdom in 2019 and our fourth straight World Cup,” added Porterfield.
Team have a very experience line up like Andrew Balbirnie, Dockrell, Joyce, O’Brien Brothers along with Paul Striling all are the key factor for ireland to secure their spot in 2019 world cup.
